Custom Wedding Stationery: Creating a Stunning Keepsake for You & Your Guests
Custom wedding invitations are more than just pieces of paper sent to your wedding guests. They are works of art that capture the love between you and your fiancé and offer a glimpse of your special day. You've been dreaming and planning for this day for a long time, and it's going to be truly unforgettable. Such a significant moment deserves to be immortalized and shared with your loved ones in a personal way that reflects you.
But where to start with custom wedding stationery? Where should you look for inspiration? How do you create that special moment you’re looking for?
In this blog, we’ll share ideas and inspiration to help you bring your custom wedding invites to life.
Rely on your venue to illustrate your vibe.
You chose your wedding venue for a reason. You loved the feel of it, its story, its personality. Something about it just felt right. And if your custom wedding invitation is supposed to give your guests a glimpse of the big day, why not use your venue for design inspiration?
Hannah and Corey did exactly that when creating their custom wedding stationery. They were married at Il Mercato, one of the most popular venues in New Orleans. Il Mercato boasts historic Spanish architecture, but despite its age, it feels clean and modern with plenty of opportunities for “wow” moments.
So, Hannah's and Corey’s invitations reflected Il Mercato's unique personality. They opted for crisp, black typography printed on bright white cotton paper. The script font was chosen for its modern yet classic handwriting style, prominently displaying their names. Additionally, they added torn, or "deckle" edges, to the invitation cards to impart historic elegance.
But the “wow” moment? A full-color illustration of Il Mercato itself! Hannah and Corey used the original pastel illustration on both their custom save the date and envelope liner, an eye-grabbing piece of art that showcased the venue to their guests. Who wouldn’t love to go dancing in that historic courtyard?
Use your story to inspire a custom wedding monogram
Wedding monograms are classic, but they mean so much more when inspired by a story or place that’s meaningful to you.
Sarah and Rande exchanged vows at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Covington, Louisiana. Sarah had attended this church since childhood, and it was important to her to dedicate her life to Rande in this place close to her heart. So we used the stone carvings in the church’s architecture to design a monogram for their wedding. Sarah loved it so much that she upgraded her custom wedding invites to gold foil printing.
If family is important to you, then you can pull inspo from your family tree. Family was central to Nicole and Nathan, so they hired a designer to create a unique crest based on their family’s history. Combining motifs from both family heritages, their designer illustrated a new crest that symbolically joined the two families in Nicole and Nathan. We then used the crest to inspire the rest of their custom wedding stationery.
Showcase a love that you share together
What are the things you both love? Have you traveled somewhere that holds a special memory, or do you share a passion that makes you perfect for each other? These things can inspire not only your custom wedding stationery, but also your customized wedding.
Jessica and Max loved Japanese culture almost as much as each other. Their first trip as a couple was to Japan, and so they decided to have a Japanese garden-themed wedding. Both romantic and true to them!
Japanese gardens are full of beauty, so we had no shortage of inspiration. Cherry blossoms were the main motif, and we also incorporated a river and sand lines, which are iconic to Japanese rock gardens. The results were stunning and perfectly captured the vibe of their wedding day and shared passion.
Intimate Weddings: Share your love with your guests
Intimate weddings give the perfect opportunity to share your love with your guests in a more personal way compared to a larger gathering. Who are the people you cherish the most apart from each other? And what does it mean to have them present on this meaningful day?
Sabrina and Frank had an intimate ceremony reserved for their closest family and friends. It was important to them to make these individuals feel special and deeply valued as they exchanged their vows.
Instead of sending out traditional wedding invitations, they chose to personally invite each guest with a special letter. Sabrina and Frank wrote a heartfelt message which was designed to look like a handwritten note. Each invite was customized with the guest's informal first name, the name they would use in casual conversation. This added a personal touch to each invitation, making it a meaningful keepsake for both Sabrina and Frank and their guests. In a time when hand-written notes are so rare, who wouldn’t cherish this love letter from their best friend?
